Foxy’s Tamarind Bar in Great Harbour is one of the genuinely famous bars in the sailing world, and it earned that status the hard way — Foxy Callwood opened it in 1968 and spent decades greeting arriving crews, usually with an improvised calypso that worked your boat name and home town into the lyrics.

What to expect at Foxy’s

The bar itself is a sprawl of driftwood and burgee-covered rafters, with thousands of flags, T-shirts and business cards left by visiting boats. There is a full kitchen, a decent rum list and, on the right nights, live music.

Old Year’s Night — New Year’s Eve — is the single biggest sailing party in the Caribbean, and boats book the anchorage months ahead. If your charter falls near the end of December, talk to us early.

Getting there on your crewed charter

Great Harbour is a wide, well-protected bay with moorings and room to anchor in sand, and the dinghy dock puts you a short walk from the bar along the beach road. Customs and immigration are here too if you are clearing in.
