Ferries, taxis, boarding time and what the first afternoon aboard looks like on a BVI crewed catamaran charter.
Most charters begin at Nanny Cay or Road Town, Tortola, or at a marina near Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda — your captain will confirm the exact marina once your boat is booked. Fly into Beef Island, Tortola (EIS) and taxi to the marina, or fly into St. Thomas, USVI (STT) and take the ferry to Road Town, then taxi to the marina.
Charters begin at 12 noon, and early boarding is not offered — your crew needs the morning to clean, fuel and prepare the boat for your week. To maximize your first full day on the water, many guests choose to sleep the night before ashore or aboard their vessel for 50% of a night’s rate.
Step aboard to a cold flute of champagne, an ice-cold beer, or the beverage of your choice. Unpack, settle into your cabin, and enjoy a safety briefing with your crew. After a snack or your first meal aboard, you’ll set sail for your first anchorage of the week — often Peter Island, a short, easy sail from Tortola.
