At the north end of Virgin Gorda, North Sound is a near-landlocked bay protected by reef and islands — a natural playground rimmed with marinas, beach clubs and mooring fields, and a favorite base for a day or two of doing exactly as much, or as little, as you like.
Grab a mooring and dinghy between institutions: the reborn Bitter End Yacht Club, tiny Saba Rock with its lively bar, and Leverick Bay for its dock, pool and its famous Friday-night beach party. The flat, protected water is ideal for kiteboarding, windsurfing, paddleboarding and sailing dinghies.
With more time, the eastern shore opens toward Oil Nut Bay and Eustatia Sound — some of the clearest water and best light-wind sailing in the whole territory.
Divers get one more reason to stay: the Kodiak Queen, a Pearl Harbor survivor sunk off Mountain Point in 2017 and wrapped in an 80-foot steel Kraken, sits a short dinghy run from the Sound in 15 to 57 feet of water.

The 5pm tarpon feeding at Saba Rock
Every evening around five, a school of giant tarpon gathers at the Saba Rock dock to be fed — a signature North Sound sundowner ritual. Grab a drink, line up along the rail and watch them boil in the clear water below.
