Coco Loco’s is the beach bar on the quiet west end of White Bay, past Gertrude’s and the Soggy Dollar, where the crowd thins out and the blue umbrellas start. It is the bar for people who came to White Bay for the beach rather than the party: a row of chairs in the sand, a painted blue bar counter looking straight out at the anchored catamarans, and staff who greet you with a hug and remember your name by the second drink. It also makes what several regulars call the best Bushwhacker on the beach.

What to expect at Coco Loco
A small, family-run beach bar and restaurant with a blue-and-white counter, a handful of tables inside and beach chairs with umbrellas out on the sand. Lunch is the main event: fish and chips, burgers, pizza, conch fritters, chicken roti when they have it, and lobster tacos that reviewers describe as generously stuffed. Dinner is by reservation and leans toward ribs, lobster and steak. Drinks are the usual White Bay lineup done well: Painkillers, rum punch, frozen mango daiquiris and the Bushwhacker the bar is known for. Shenique’s, the little gift shop alongside, sells wraps, T-shirts and jewelry.
The welcome is the thing people write about afterwards. Momma Loy and the team run it like a front porch, and after Hurricane Irma flattened the beach in 2017 they rebuilt and reopened, which on Jost Van Dyke counts for a great deal.
Our take, having brought guests here for three seasons
When a group told us they wanted a beach day, not a bar day, we anchored on the west end of the bay and walked them into Coco Loco. The water is just as clear, the sand is just as white, and you can hear yourself think. Have a Bushwhacker, order the lobster tacos, and walk east to the Soggy Dollar when you are ready for the noise. Coming back to Coco Loco afterwards feels like coming home.
If you want dinner ashore, have your crew call ahead in the afternoon. It is a small kitchen and they cook for the people who booked.
Getting there on your crewed charter
Same arrival as everywhere on White Bay: your catamaran anchors inside the reef and you swim or take the dinghy in. Coco Loco is at the western end of the main beach, so ask your captain to anchor on that side; it puts you a short swim from the bar and away from the busiest part of the bay. Anchor early and you will have the west end almost to yourselves for the first hour. White Bay is a day stop, and before dark we move around to Great Harbour or across to Little Jost Van Dyke.

Is Coco Loco quieter than the Soggy Dollar?
Much. It is on the west end of White Bay, away from where the ferries and day boats land, and regulars go there specifically to escape the crowd.
What is Coco Loco known for?
The Bushwhacker, the lobster tacos and the welcome. Momma Loy and the staff treat guests like family, and people go back for that as much as the food.
Can we have dinner at Coco Loco?

Are there beach chairs?
Yes, chairs with blue umbrellas on the sand in front of the bar for customers, and there is usually space because this end of the beach is quieter.
