The Aquarium is a shallow, sheltered snorkelling site named for exactly the reason you would guess — the density and variety of fish in clear, shallow water make it feel like swimming in a tank. It is one of the more forgiving sites in this part of the BVI and a good choice for beginners or for children.

What you will see at Aquarium

The ground is shallow with coral heads and boulders scattered over sand, and the structure holds a lot of small reef fish: sergeant majors, blue tangs, parrotfish and wrasse in numbers, with larger snapper working the edges. Turtles are seen with reasonable frequency.

Because it is shallow and protected it stays comfortable in conditions that make the exposed sites unpleasant, and the light in shallow water keeps the color strong.

Getting there on your crewed charter

Your captain will position you on the site and advise on entry. As with all the National Parks sites in this area, use the moorings rather than anchoring, and keep well clear of the coral heads, which sit close to the surface.
