The Dog Islands lie in open water between Tortola and Virgin Gorda, and they are among the best-protected and least crowded dive grounds in the BVI. The whole group sits inside the National Parks system, and the coral shows the benefit.

What you will see at Dogs

Great Dog and George Dog carry the best-known sites. The ground is a mix of rock ledges, boulder fields and coral in shallow to moderate depth, with swim-throughs and overhangs to work along. Reef fish are abundant, turtles are common, and eagle rays and larger pelagics pass through the deeper water off the points.

There is diving and snorkelling here for every level — sheltered shallow ground on one side of an island, more exposed structure on the other — which makes the group a good choice for a mixed crew.

Getting there on your crewed charter

National Parks moorings are provided and anchoring on the reef is prohibited. The Dogs are strictly day-use; the anchorages are exposed and unsuitable overnight. They make a natural stop on the passage between Tortola and North Sound.
